: Hi folks, My Female laid 8 eggs yesterday. Various shapes and sizes. I had a nesting box with vermiculite which is where she laid her clutch. My question is, would she lay this many eggs if she was never "fertilized"? I've tried numerous times to have her hook up with my male but I never saw the completed act. Nor have I seen it even being close. Usually, the male was all over her, but she just wouldn't give it up. 2 years ago she laid 3 infertile eggs. That didn't suprise me. 8 eggs ? Thats an awful lot of eggs. What do you think? What would be the first sign of a infertile egg?
: All comments appreciated.
: Thanks, Mark
Mark,
good eggs are very textured, like sandpaper and you can take them in a dark room and put a flash light up to them and see the blood vessles in the egg , bad eggs are usually very soft and when candeled are very yellow inside with no blood vessels,(sorry for the grammer)
good luck
Douglas
