I'm not sure about Spilotes not being constrictors. Mostly I feed mine dead prey, which she certainly doesn't constrict, but she did constrict a live mouse I fed her once. Also, Drymarchon have Duvernoy's glands, which Spilotes lack... this seems to argue somewhat against a very close relationship between the two.
