: : : It's dark red like a normal albino of many Elaphe species.
: : albinos always have red eyes with no black coloration!!
: : i think that this might be reverse mutant or heterozygot.
: : what is your opinion?
: I think you are seeing something that isn't there. The picture wasn't taken directly of the eye, but it does not look to far off from many normal albino snakes. Corn snake's eyes are too even colored pink -- that isn't the norm for all species.
: If it was a heterozygote (of a simple Mendelian recessive gene), it wouldn't show any traits of albinism.
: What the heck is a reverse mutant? A ninja thatturns into a turtle?
Hi KJ!
you forgot that it is a crossing brtween 2 diferent species GuttateXObssoleta. The coloration & morph surprise us all the time!
We need to see a close up on the eye, just to be sure.
Reverse mutant is a joake since it was found only in germs & viruses (it is very rare mutation).
This mutation is a reverse of the original mutation.
I would like to know who are you? what do you do for living? it seems that you know about tirosinaze enzyme. you could be a big help for my friend who is starting his doctor wark in biology.
he is studying osmoregulation in snakes eges.
I would like you to contact me to my E-mail (if you want) & i will inform you more about his works.
