You need to check your local and state laws. Some people can have them but certian states won't allow it. Here in Texas I guess we are lucky on that. Depending on where you are you very well might have to have some type of permit. I can tell you they are great animals and will bring you alot of enjoyment. If you can have them where you are at. I would definitely reccomend them. However, be sure you buy from a reputable person and get paperwork for the Gila. There are some folks out there selling wild caught animals. You don't want to get caught up in that.
