: My spinosa (spiny cogwheel turtle) was administered .01 cc of baytril and then he vomited his last meal. Has this occured to anyone else. He was injected in his right from foot and was sleeping at the time he was injected. Please let me know if you have any ideas or remedies to this delemma as he is suffering from a severe respiratory infection. Thank you.
I have no personal experience with this but someone on the Redfoot group recently had this same problem. Her 6 month old tortoise vomitted after being treated with injectable Baytril for a respiratory infection. In her case there were no apparent complications from this and her tortoise is now recovered. One of the breeders on the thread mentioned that he had heard of some Leopard tortoises having allergic reactions to Baytril. A depletion of normal gut flora is also considered a possible cause of regurgitation in cases like this.
