AFT was my first herp....

My first herp was a AFT, and I lover her....but I will say she's not all that fun.

I can handle her, though she isn't too pleased with it....and really I never see her. ( But I am nocturnal, so I do get a glimpse every once and a while. )

Anyways, if you want one that is great. But with a 40 gallon you can do alot. If she likes snakes, cornsnakes are great and all they require is a 20 long. I also own 3 leo's, and I think they are much more pet-like. They're active in the dusk/dawn, so I see mine all the time...even mid-day! They walk up to me, walk on my hand, watch me walk across the room....very responsive.

Anyways, with your tank, you can just get a rheostat to control how hot it gets...
