Hi,I live in Ohio and this is a two part question.I know of an area near my families home that has wild melanistic eastern garters. As kids we thought they were poisonous.LOL The same creek also has a good population of water snakes. My questions involve whether I should collect a couple of these snakes and maybe attempt a breeding project. I breed corn snakes right now.
Question 1: Are melanistic garters an interest in the hobby
and, well is it worth it?( This is'nt for money gain,I just enjoy snakes :) )
Question 2: Is a colony of melanistics uncommon in the wild?
Thanks for reading and any responses.
