I just posted two days ago to wait another week. You are indeed stressing him out with all of the movement. This is THE most fragile time of their lives, don't take any risks. Remember, these are ectotherms and live a long time off of energy reserves. One way to keep crickets out of the water is to use a bowl that is elevated above the surface. The frog will find its way into the bowl but the crickets will not.
