From what I have been told, the UV output is the same. I never had any luck with them. I was told by the people at Home Depot that you did not need a special fixture. The people here told me the same thing. I went through four bulbs(home depot replaced three), they would come one and then the filiment would imedilty brake. I took in my fixture the second time and they said it was fine. So I really do not know what the deal is with these. I use the T-rex active U.V. heat bulbs and really love them. I had one burn out after about 5 months, but the replaced it pretty quickly.
