Herping the Tigris and Euphrates...

...Anyone been through the area lately?!!! I've been following Ted Koppel on the way to Baghdad (from the relative safety of my easy chair..that is) and it appears that he hasn't been bitten by anything poisonous yet. Thanks to the sattelite imagery provided by EarthViewer and Digital Globe...I've become real curious as to the geography and herps of Iraq. I admit that I havn't done much of an info search yet so thought I would start here. Looks like they would have both desert and lowland river valley species to play with. Just curious. I can only get as far as exploring the Big Sioux Valley (border of South Dakota and Iowa) this summer and probably won't quite make it to the Mid-East anytime soon! Thanks. TJ.
