Hey Denis - Have you read this brilliant work by Lazell and Michner? It totally covers the diversity of Cape-Cods Amphibians and Reptiles. It gives field hunt locations and maps and gives a very scientific perspective to the purpose and reasons behind the animals that live here and how and why certain species have made it on the islands while others have not. Lots of great stories surrounding specimen hunts. It is awesome reading like Kauffelds book (which I own as well) and one you can't put down. He especially makes the point of how difficult the Eastern Hognose is to find here although they are quite common and how a determined hunter will eventually find one.
If you ever want to hook up for hunting on the cape, let me know.
Its hard to believe, but many of todays herpers will never read Kauffeld, Lazell, Ditmars, Cope etc! Thanks, Leo
