......It makes more sense to me to protect mitchelli rather than ruber. If it's a matter of developement impacting the habitat then why not protect mitchelli and helleri as well? And then there's the Checkered Garter, if I'm not mistaken a snake that has managed to greatly expand its range via agricultural irrigation/developement. How do "they" propose to deal with that? An even deeper question might be just how long has marcianus been a California native species? Could marcianus have anything to do with the decline of Bufo alvarius along the Colorado River??? ......yeah, that might be stretchin' it just a bit(LOL), but you never know......
