Write the commission! The Department of F&G has made these (and other) proposed changes. It is the commissions job to determine whether the changes are reasonable, and to approve them. If we don't write, the only point of view they have to rely on is the Dept's. I have dealt with the individuals in the Habitat Conservation Planning Branch, which have most of the imput to make these changes - and my personal assessment is that they are more affiliated with PETA and Greenpeace than biological science or objective decision making. The members of the commission are reasonable fellas willing to listen to the other side - but it has to be made known!!!!!!!!
The commissions address is:
California Fish and Game Commission
1416 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California 95814
(916) 653-4899
: I feel that they should publish their rational for these decisions, otherwise any credibility is lost. Another thing I read in the PDF file: no take of Batrachoseps anywhere in LA county. CA whipsnakes? Ruber but not granite spinys? Also they do not use the same standards for fish protection as for reptiles/amphibians.
