: Horrible!! I do not believe it! Basilisk hell! I canīt breathe!
: Thats pure torture for the poor animal. You will end up with a basilisk which has given up and will tolerate almost everything. You will withdraw almost all possibiiteis to show natural behaviour from your lizard if you follow these instructions. The poor thing will even not be allowed to hunt and catch live prey or food att all on oits own (irrespective of that I would not call the given recipes apt basilisk food at all!!)
: Basilisks aremainly instinct driven animals wiht a very limited bahavioural flexibility. They just lack the possibility to feel "bonded" or "make friends" by nature and theres no means to introduce such things by force. This way of treating lizards is extremely anthropomorphistic and far away from the animals needs. I STRONGLY recommend to NOT fololow these instructions!!!!!
: Please beleive me: I keep and breed these animals since a long time and I now have F4 hatched. I kept several adults, raised hundreds of babies and bTW also have a pHD in biology-please beleive me that I know, what Iīm talking about. Although the promised result sounds tempting to any new basilisk owner, the result is NOT what it seems to be. Its NOT a BONDED, Dog tame basiisk-its an animal which has given up and gone through severe torture!
: BTW: Most basilisks calm down at the age of 9-12 months, even if never handled at all. Its enough that they get used to frequently seeing people close to their enclosure. They will recognize that the presence of you opening the cage can mean FOOD and hence most will sooner or later come to see whats up! Thats nice and gives the impression of some kind of emotional relation-but they are just ecpecting FOOD (they are voracious feeders and evber hungry).
: They will "learn" to do so without any force-and I donīt think that theres any reason for a larger degree of "tameness" in these animals.
: If I have to remove one of my adults from the tank for any purpose, I let them jump ont my arm and carry them to the place of question. Thats eassy, no stress for either party and required no taming efforts at all.
: Please do not forget: These animals are LIZARDS-with all thier fascinating behaviour, shape and colour -but also with their limited behavioural and intellectual flexiobility. PLEASE respect this!
: A very upset Ingo
