Nah, as cool as some rare animals look, and as much as I'd like to have them, to me rare usually means harder to take care of so I tend to stay away from herps that are rare :)

Are day geckos considered rare? Not a lot of websites sell them, so I guess they could be rare in the pet trade. I never looked at them as rare though, maybe I'm wrong.
