Steve,
where are you located and how much room can you provide. by some of the things you brought up, palms and big rocks, sounds like you may have a fair amount of room. this also means its harder to heat unless you live where its warm, which leads me back to my questions.
Much more floor space than a green ig. These guys are not big climbers for the most part "ground pounders". A hide is important. Most cyclura are burrowers(is that a word). Cinder blocks work well, they heat up and hold it pretty well. easy to grab and move when cleaning and wear the claws down too. Substrate, I use outdoor carpet but a lot of people use newspaper, butcher paper or some paper product as it is the easiest for cleaning.
As far as protein, I dont use it except about every couple of months or so I will take the scraps from a baked chicken and give it to them. no more than about 5-6 pieces. try that and watch your cyclura turn into a monitor. So I guess I use protein but not even 5%.
Hopefully you will get more response 'cuz everyones setup and diet are different
