I brought this one up once before and everyone laughed it out of the room, but Gregs mention of Palm Beach made me decide to mention this again. When I was a teenager I got into an argument with a subsitute scoutmaster about rattlesnake size. I told him EDB may get a little over eight feet but that was it. He brought a photo and a xerox copy for me to keep. The photo was a very old black and white. It showed several very somber looking men holding a dead EDB horizontally. In front of the men was a cardboard sign that read:Diamondback Rattlesnake,11ft. 4inches, killed (can't remember the exact date)1919, W. Palm Beach Florida. I was still a little skeptical and I did everything within my teenage powers to make sure that was a real photo.I measures the width of my dads shoulders for a comparison and guestimated the space between the shoulders of the standing men. I also compared the snakes length to twice the height of the tallest man in the photo based on the assumption that the average man in 1919 was probably 5'10-6'0. The snake did indeed look to be over 11ft. One man had a death grip behind the head. The snakes skin and head looked properly scrunched/distorted for that particular grip. The snakes body also dipped properly betwwen the hands that were holding it. Although everybody who read the post the last time immediately assumed it was on of those hoax pics where an enlarged subject is superimposed over another picture with people in it, I am positive it was the real Mcoy. Unfortunately I lost my Xerox somewhere through the years. I do know however it was sent in to one of the outdoor magazines like Field and Stream or such and printed in one of the mid '70's issues. I'm gonna try to find it.
