I, too, find this a fascinating post, and I hope you won't be annoyed by what I write here. I don't know much about adamanteus, but it got me thinking about what I know about boa constrictor. Different regional populations of bci and bcc have vastly different size potential -- it seems boas in Trinidad, for instance, routinely reach sizes that would never be reached by any in an enormous population of, say, Honduran boas or Sonoran boas. Could it be that the local populations in which the 8' EDB *was* a likely possibility are among those that have been adversely impacted by human encroachment? Just an idea...
