In Reply to: The Official Standard of Corn Snake Morphology... posted by Serpwidgets on August 02, 2002 at 00:04:30:
While I'm in great support of this idea, I think it's important to remind ourselves that this will only solve SOME of the problems in the corn snake trade...
Just because the defenitions of Amber or Ghost (for example) tell us what they are doesn't prevent anyone from selling a light caramel as an amber, or a light anery as a ghost...
Who certifies that the snake in question came from parents X and Y? What's to stop me from buying large lots of corns in mid-summer and labeling them whatever I think they look like? maybe also call them all females and mark them up?
Don't get me worng, I think the official guide to morphs would do a lot of good, but it would by no means stop the misrepresentation of corns (not saying anyone expects it too... just adding a reality check.)
