: Vibrational communication is really quite usefull if you think about it. Chams on a plant can call out and immediately know if another cham is on the same plant/tree, without alerting predators. Chams are obviously adapted to concealment, even from other chams, and this form of communication has many (potential) uses. Vibrational "hooting" is probably quite important during mate acquisition, at least in C. calyptratus. Vibrational communication is only now being explored by the scientific community, and I'm sure much time and effort will be devoted to this form of communication in the future.
I have no doubt that the ditection of vibrations through the feet is extremely good. We were refering to sound traveling through air to what would have been the ear, however. These vibrations are likely detected by either the feet of lung cavity.
There is only really one person I know of who has done any work on this and that is Ken Barrnet. I am in the process, however, of starting research on this phenomenon in Rhampholeon species.
