Vision/Pannel Problem

Im thinking of purchasing Vision cages for my Pythons, about three cages in total. For each cage I would like to use a Helix pannel. The problem is really with the cages. In the top of the model I would like to buy (Model #332), there is an indent, and pannels obviously need a flat surface to be placed on/or screwed in. You cannot do that with this. Now what if I put the heat pannel on the side of the cage? Is there something wrong with that? My snakes are aboreal, so they run the risk of touching the heat source no matter what. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks. John
