Freezing a reptile is probably one of the most painful ways to euthanize a reptile. The water in the body and blood turns to crystals and the cellular structures burst, slowly. If you choose to euthanize, two comments.

1) do not freeze. it's hoped to be 'painless', but the alternative consenus is ..unthinkable pain. :-(
2) if you euthanize, do not advertize/brag about it after the fact. you'll stroke people's ire whom disagree with the decision.

Anyway, I am surprised (and very pleased, btw) that the follow-up posts are supportive and interesting. This question have come up before, usually with militant views pro & con.
And that's a very nice photo.. kind of tugs at the heart-strings, doesn't s/he?
