: Alex,
: Here is some information that I was able to pull together about caring for Rough Green Snakes. These snakes make ideal specimens for display enclosures.
: Setting Up The Enclosure:
: 1. You need a fairly large enclosure.
: 2. Substrate can consist of dead leaves, bracken, pebbles..(keep in mind when designing the enclosure, that these snakes originate from eastern North America). The substrate should be kept dry. -You cannot have pebbles. Would you put pebbles in an Anole cage? Pebbles can get way to hot or way to cold. Pebbles mean also no gravel. Orchid Bark is a nice substrate or AstroTurf or anything of that nature.
: 3. Include some intertwined/mixed dead branches. This will enable the snake to climb and bask under a light.- She is right, they will die of excessive heat though, so keep it 70-75 degrees and maybe a hot spot at 80 but no higher than 80 or your cousin will have fried snake.
: 4. You can include some living plants as well - just be sure to leave them in the small pots and not plant them directly into the substrate.- Right there too! :-)
: 5. Day time temperature should be about 25C or 77F. This can be achieved by an overhead heat source or a sub-tank heating source if you wish.
: Feeding These Snakes:
: These snakes are insectivores and will readily accept crickets, locust hoppers and even the occasional waxworm.- THEY WILL NOT READILY ACCEPT ANY FOOD! THEY ARE VERY HARD SNAKES TO FEED IN CAPTIVITY JUST LIKE WC BALLS. THEY PREFER TO HAVE ROSIES, CRICKETS, AND WAX MOTHS. THEY WILL OCCASIONALLY EAT THE MEALWORMS OR WAXWORM OR EARTHWORM. I HAVE ALSO KEPT THEM ON FEEDER SMALL ANOLES I BOUGHT AT A SHOW IN FLORIDA (they were brown anoles and florida needs some control on those) AND IF THE SNAKE IS VERY PICKY EITHER A) Let it go if he caught it in a local area or if its local to that area or B) Start force-feeding it crickets that are fed on a vitamin enriched diet. THEY WILL NOT READILY ACCEPT ANY FOOD MOST LIKELY. I HAD 1 ROUGH GREEN SNAKE THAT WOULD EAT CRICKETS OUT OF MY HAND AND I HAD HIM SINCE HE WAS STILL IN AN EGG BECAUSE I FOUND THAT MY FEMALE LAID 4 EGGS (a small clutch) AND I KEPT HIM, SO IN A WAY HE WAS CAPTIVE BORN AND RAISED SO HE READILY ACCEPTED FOOD!!!
: Rough green snakes grow to a maximum size of about 30 inches (or 75cm). RIGHT HERE BUT NORMAL SIZE IS 2 FOOT AND HEY ARE SLENDER BUT BEAUTIFUL SNAKES, THEY ARE ONE OF MY FAVORITES THAT I HAVE KEPT SINCE I WAS ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD.
: I hope this helps!

HOPE I HELPED SOME HERE!
