I truly regret the following statements however, I feel that it is my duty as an upstanding member of the WTHS to expose herpetological biasis and prejudices when they are encountered. Again, I fully regret this but, I feel it is my duty.
I feel that certain statements made on this forum indicate a definitive bias against what is without question the single most important reptile in the known universe. Please, I do understand such bias. I mean, some people are simply not blessed with the ability to collect such specimens and are instead relegated to the pursuit of the evolutionarily disadvantaged(ie venomous). Simply put, I believe there is a deep seeded jealousy and resentment towards the one true collectors species (alterna). I feel that it is extremely unfortunate that such bias has reared its ugly head within the ranks of the WTHS. I think most of us try our best not to belittle our less fortunate apprentices and it is a terrible shame that they feel the need to vent their collecting frustrations on those of us who should be treated with envy. After all, it should be a tremendous boost to your self-esteem to realize that the creator of the universe created lesser species which almost anyone or anything can easily collect(ie. venomous). I understand that not everyone wishes to have programs at the WTHS that are alterna oriented. I mean it would be like discussing various flavors of caviar. Unfortunately, not everyone has had the pleasure. Our hearts go out to those of you who have yet to obtain the dream. Life must be truly difficult for those who have searched and searched in vain. However, even though I'm sure the frustration levels are extremely high, I still do not feel that it is appropriate to air such a bias in a public format such as this. The tearing down of time tested icons (alterna) will in no way enhance the acceptability level of lesser species(venomous). So why bother, simply accept who you are and the fate to which you have so obviously been assigned and leave the truly challenging to those of us more suited to the pursuit. (Love ya) Jeff
