It is 100% Midland Painted Turtle. Any place west of the of the Apalachian, north of tennessee, and east of mississippi is a pure blood midland painted.

::The turtle appears to be most likely a midland painted turtle. The dark blotch on the stomach, and the alternating scutes on his shell are classic and definitive examples of it not being an Eastern painted. Best way to clarify this is, where do you live: city and state.

:::My son rescued this little guy from some kids at school. The were "flicking" it across the table and he traded his lunch for it.
:::He's not much bigger than a nickel, has yellow stripes on face & neck. He has 1 red stripe down each front leg.
