John Iverson at Earlham College in Indian is the Kinosternid expert, and would probably know for sure. I emailed him about one I found in Mexico and he identified it for me. His email address is johni@earlham.edu Also "Capain Salty" from here on the forums is knowledgeable about the genus.
That said, if the turtle truely is from Ecuador it is probably not angustipons, as they are only found as far south as Panama. K. leucostomum(White lipped mud turtle) is found in Ecuador, but the picture you have of the plastral scute morphology looks different from those I've seen. So, hopefully one those guys could help -Damien
:I received an email asking what kind of turtle this is:

:He said he was given the turtle and he is from Equador, so I'm guessing Kinosternon Angustipons, but I'm no expert with these turtles.
:Any opinions would be great!
