As for care, these are among the most hardy tropical species in existenece. Any aquatic set up with some basking area will keep them happy. Keep the temperature above 75 degrees F and they will feed well. They usually eat readily and can be started on any of the commercial turtle foods, such as Reptomin (my favorite). I have several Pelomedusa species that have been in my collection going on 20 years now.
