I agree - probably a sharp-tailed snake. Does it seem to 'poke' your hand with its tail when you handle it and it wraps itself around your hand?

::About 3in and a drab brown. Found in Sacramento CA at the river. I thought it was a worm at first. Tiniest thing ive EVER seen!!!
