I agree completely with CHRISH. I have seen watersnakes attempt to "Climb Aboard" many times. I have also encountered these same snakes in "Their Enviroment" and they always flee and never stand their ground unless cornered. I believe it saw your boat as a basking/resting spot and nothing else.
Where in SE AL are you? I am near Montgomery...

::NO I dont agree, the snake came toward us several times. He was seeing us clearly. The first time we moved to get out of his way. The second time we did not have time to move, he came directly at us. Can they climb into a boat?
