I received an e-mail asking if I could identify this lizard.
My first impression was Knight Anole, but we have ruled
that out.
I will pass the description along to the forum to see if
anyone has any ideas:
-----------------------------
Location is near Everglades in south Florida.
About 12 to 15 inches long, including tail, bright green with a very bright
yellow lower lip. It had no spines on its back like a standard
iguana and had a very rounded snout, not pointed.
It was also much flatter and lower to the ground than an Iguana.
It was shaped much more like a Gila Monster (with a short tale)
than an Iguana. Very flat, with legs to the side, not walking on top of the legs
like a typical Iguana.
And the colors were a very vivid green and yellow.
If I had to guess, it weighed about 2 pounds.
It was climbing on a screen porch and had no problem scaling a wall.
