:It is not poisonous. You did not mention where you are in the US. Most likely it is just a Mediterranean gecko(turkish gecko)(Hemidactylus turcicus) from your description. Released into most of the southern US and really setting up heavy populations in where it has been introduced. Try to find a pic of one. Good luck! Andy
