Bill,
You are 100% correct..... Bitis nasicornis WILL die in 90degs.... I never let the hot spot in the tank go over 85.... They also never bask under the light..... I have a hide for them under the light and once in a blue moon I will see one under it..... But this is rare..... They mostly stay on the cool end near the water basin.... This is most likely due to the fact that that in some parts of their range they almost never see direct sun light...... I keep my rhinos much like I keep my gaboons..... It seems to be working well for me.....
