Herps active in Valley during June?

Hello, everyone!
I'll be passing through Harlingen on Saturday, on my way to
Matamoros, where I work with a missions agency. Can anyone
tell me what herps are active, and what techniques are best
for seeing and photographing animals this time of year? I
know it's gettin' pretty warm down there, so I assume that
most everything in the way of snakes has probably gone
nocturnal by now, right? Is road-herping pretty productive
there, or do you know certain hide-spots that are good to
check in the area? Thanks for your help!
