When digging for fossils in Sedimentary Rocks, the rock layers tend to be laid down with one layer on top of another.
A river is found to be cutting through 5 layers of Sedimentary Rocks, which we also call strata, and fossils are found in both the top (#1), center (#3), and bottom (#5)layers. Which Rock layer fossils are most likely the oldest?
We are assuming the rock layers were not shifted and turned over from their originally laid position.
