:Sounds like what would be classed as an illegitimate bite. When someone is bitten on the finger by a coral, chances are highly in favor of the victim attempting to capture the snake.
In the case of Micrurus, the victim obviously did not know how to properly & safely do so. The ONLY time one needs get one's fingers near a coral snake's head is if one is doing venom extraction or medical work on the snake. I have caught dozens of corals, and have yet to touch one's head.
