If you get nailed by a Bothrops jararaca in Brazil (which, needless to say, is a rather more dangerous snake than a massassauga), you should need no more than 4-8 vials of Instituto Butantan antivenom, and it will cost you less than US$ 500.

Some of the thanks for that can probably go to the FDA.
