::I worked in a vets office & only the vet was qualified to perform surgeries. If I decided to dock the tail of my own dog I would be sent to jail for animal cruelty yet it seems snakes do not get that same standard. If you will read most of the posts, they are complaining about unlicensed people performing these procedures. Not to mention, just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be done. Get a conscience & quit griping about people who already have one.
:Spend 1 day in any animal clinic and you will see 20 procedures that are by far more inhumane than the procedure used to remove venom glands. My question is what are you advocating? Man uses animals for his benefit everyday. Everyone who owns a snake (or keeps pets) does it at the expense of the snake and the feeders used to feed it, guess what they want to be free, leave the cage open and see if they stay in there. If a zoo, educator or individual needs to use venomoids for safety, insurance reasons, or just because they want to, they can this is America. As long as the procedures are done as humanely as possible and the animals are healthy afterwards then so what. Do not throw rocks if you live in a glass house, join PETA, become a vegetarian hippie, and go protest the war. Better yet go throw some cow blood on someone who is wearing leather.....Whatever you do stop pretending you are so worried about the snakes, it is quite insulting
::This Monacled was surgicaly devenomized 10 years ago and is alive and well today. The bottom picture represents the "Mutilation" people claim the surgery to be.
