Yep, you do. To get the permit you have to have 1000 documented hours of experience with venomous snakes. I don't know how this works for people moving in out of state, because I don't think the experience you have working with your own collection would count. (Personally, I spend about 5 minutes cleaning the cages and about 10 seconds dropping food in... I think I'd have to have my snakes for 20 years before I'd get 1000 hours..)
