Hey flyfisher. I live in a small town just south of Russellville called Dardanelle, about a two hour drive from the Fayetteville/Rogers area. There are a fairly surprising number of herpers up in that area of the state (check snakesofarkansas.com for some of the locals), and the herpetology professor at the U of A is (I believe) currently doing much research on Crotalus horridus.
As far as types of snakes you can find up there, just about all Arkansas-ranging vens, except for the coral, which would only be in the southern part of the state. You should be able to find cottons, coppers (not sure which ssp exactly), western pigmies, and definitely timbers.
Anyway, good luck on the move. If you find any good areas for timbers and/or western pigs up there let me know, as I'd definitely be interested in coming up and taking a look for myself, heh. You can take a look at my website below or shoot me an e-mail at rvsnakes@centurytel.net.
