They can be used indoors, but I personally have trouble heating them enough for bearded dragons though, muchless a uro. I've given up on them inside, just use them outside now. Also, they are quite hard to see in, so actually observing animals in them is hard. I did have one burn a bit at one point, when I was using a mercury vapor bulb with it, the bulb wasn't touching the mesh, it just got that hot, so I'm not sure how well it would stand up to the heat needed for uros...
