I have a leash that I bought for Mira because I love to take her with me places and she is so independent and doesn't always want to be held, plus she likes to sit on my shoulder and sometimes loses her grip and the idea of her splatting is not fun so the leash makes sure she stays put. Mira also thrashed and bucked when I first put the leash on her a year ago ( then again if you didn't know what it was and felt it restraining you I'm sure you'd be thrashing too =)). Now, she bears with it and hardly even notices it as she runs about. She's a Mali and she's also very small but I found one at my local pet shoppe for small lizards and it fits her great (they're the little black ones with the pic of the iguana on them) and it is a harness that goes over her legs. I know she'll never walk on it like a dog =) but I know she's safe and she loves to run around outside so it gives her more freedom (though she's never ever outside without supervision) I think that it will just depend on how your little guy reacts and what you like to do with him on whether or not a leash is for you. Best of luck!!! molly
