They might be "puffed up" becuase of feeling threatened or uncomfortable. My female was that way before she died.
An idea about the camera, is to have a friend go in for a "school" project, maybe about a business oriented report (or something) that needs to be written. Pictures with a digital camera is easy to explain as many reports are handed in after being done on a computer. Have the friend offer to not take any pictures of prices (something businesses don't like) and also, take many pictures of other areas (like birds, fish etc) as to not appear focused on the reptiles.
Just a thought.

:you guys are too funny! LOL Dont think Jimbo looks like me...wrong height

:I too agree with Jim. The tail is where they store their fat so a thin tail is not good. Also having them in a rabbit type cage tells me there is no way they are getting the proper heat gradient therefore maybe they aren't actually "fat" but impacted from not being able to properly digest their food. Just my first thoughts. Not good either way.

:Have you tried contacting any local humane society Josh?? They are the ones that would do the actual investigating. Where are you from? what state? That would be your first step. Good thing you documented it all. Be sure to write down the days and times you were there too. Another big help (but I didn't get to do this..wasn't brave enough lol) is if there is any way at all to get pics of them in this store without being noticed. Showing them in the wrong cages, wrong atomospheres etc. I thought about taking a really teeny tiny camera in and trying to get some pics. but they were so bad off at that time I just brought them home instead.

:good luck! Feel free to email me if you like at MMommy2mygirls@aol.com.
