:There is a technique for putting mice to sleep which may work on a lizard. As a lab technologist, I've had to perform this myself. You saturate some paper towels with ether and put them on the bottom of a jar with a tight-fitting lid. You then place the animal inside the jar and close up the jar with the lid. This will concentrate the fumes and the animal will quickly drop off to sleep. Leave the animal in the jar until it stops breathing and the heart stops beating. (With mice, a spinal-cord sever is done to ensure the animal is truly gone). This technique is one humane way to put down an animal. It is completely painless. Make sure not to inhale too much of the ether as it can make you fall asleep too (it won't be enough to kill you though, just makes you sleepy).
:I'm not sure whether this will work for a lizard or not but it is an option. I'm sorry she is not doing well. You have my sympathies. Good luck to you.
