I had several come into my shop that looked like yours. They were thin and needed lots of food to fatten them up. Once they showed signs of putting on some weight I had a fecal done and treated them. It still took a while until the males started to show their color. Now they are all fat and healthy. The males still have a little ways to go to be in full color but they are a lot brighter than they were. So, gender may not be that evident with the pic you sent. If you can two pics would be helpful. One of the full underside, especially the inside of the rear legs. One in the upright position, from behind with the tail lifted till you can see the vent.
