Dear UK Forum-people:
The photo alluded to is at the link URL, and it’s vaguely familiar to me … it’s been on the net a couple of times. I’m not sure if this item is a “re-circulating rumour” or not. Cheers, Wes
BBC (London, UK) May 03 Snake eats man in Cameroon
A snake has swallowed a young man whole - if photos are to be believed - in western Cameroon.
"The young man disappeared. People spent the whole night looking for him. The snake was then discovered with its stomach swollen," Agu Henry, a student in Bafoussam, told BBC News Online.
"The snake was still alive but when it has eaten something like this it can't move an inch. Some brave men tied up its head and tail and then took it to an open place. They then cut it open and discovered the boy."
The boy was about 15 years of age and the incident is thought to have happened two weeks ago.
Locals say the snake involved was a python somewhere between four and five metres long.
Witchcraft accusations
There are numerous snakes in Cameroon but they are not seen by the population as a great threat.
"People keep snakes as pets for mythical reasons," said Mr Henry.
He said snakes have never eaten a human being in the town before.
"A goat or small animal has been swallowed but never a human being."
"People are really frightened. They are attributing the event to witchcraft. Already the fingers are pointing," he added.
