THE CITIZEN (Gloucester, UK) 18 April 03 Snake Bite For Woman
When you are walking in the countryside you don't really expect to be bitten by an adder. But a woman was terrified to receive a bite while walking along the Cotswold Way footpath on the Severn Springs side of Leckhampton Hill.
The woman was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital and police have now warned walkers to be on the look-out for adders.
Inspector John Basford, of Gloucestershire Police, said: "Due to the unseasonable warm weather adders are more active than usual.
"If a person is bitten they should be reassured, kept calm and transferred to hospital."
