My 2 small (5 inch) RES mated 2 months ago, and I was expecting eggs (It's gonna be 2 months next week), but people have started telling me the female is too small and theres no way she will have eggs, coz she is not sexually mature. I've had them for 2 years since they were quarter size. I never hibernated them, but I haven't had a heater in either coz I didn't think I needed to, the water cooled off during winter but wasn't freezing. This winter after the cooling of the water, I caught them mating. After that I heated the water and now it's on 79-80 degrees. I expanded their space, and made a "nesting area" filled with sand/dirt. Should I expect eggs after all or no way? Could the male have "raped" the female?
