Corn Snake - Handling

Hi

A friend gave me a Corn Snake a couple of years ago, he is very well looked after and seems happy in his 40 gallon aquarium.
Although I have had him for quite a while I have never really handled him and would like too...any tips to ease him gently into being handled....or will he not take to being handled seeing as ive left it so long
