:::Huhmm, so you've found them near Freer? Next time I'm down that way I will definetly take a look. But isn't most of that land fenced off ranch land.
::I have found them on private land (oops, did I say that out loud?) and along some of the dirt roads around there under trash along the roadside.
:So you've never ran into any of the shotgun carrying landowners? Not real pleasant but I can see how tempting it would be to accidentally cross the barbwire...
::also I've seen Border Patrol vans all over that area.
::Border Patrol never worry me, I'm not doing anything wrong. I have lived and herped on the border for much of the last 15 years and never really had any problems. Sometimes in the course of doing their jobs they might pull me over. I tell them what I am doing and I'm on my way again.
:I didn't figure they would be too interested in any ol' lizard lover either but...the last time I came back from that area I did see 3 young non-Anglo men walking the fence line northward carrying gallon milk jugs. Don't know but those guys might have wanted a free ride.
::So where are these open rocky areas neer Freer? Lots of mesquite flat ranch land with Opuntia cactus or at least that's what I see from the road.
::Actually around Freer, they are usually under trash. As you go SW of Freer you come across more rocks.
: Do you ever find anything else interesting in that area?
