There are three species of horned lizards in TX, two of which only occur in the Trans-pecos (W.Texas). The other "widespread" species is protected and can not be kept or possessed in the state. I suggest you let it go where you found it.
They do not make good pets. They usually die when kept in captivity. Let it go where you found it.
